Our hometown!

Compared to Ho Chi Minh and Ha Noi, Vung Tau carries a slow, relaxed vibe with cleaner air and friendlier people!

Our parents live on Hoang Van Thu Street. Word on the street is that it is the most popular street to grab breakfast.

How to get here

There are shuttles from the airport every 20 mins or so, unless you arrive at a strange time. You should see a shuttle lane when you get outside. Make sure to tell them you’re going to Vung Tau. Cost is ~$10/person and the shuttle will take you to your exact address. Depending on traffic, travel time is 2—2.5 hours. Some popular shuttle companies are: Hoa Mai, Thanh Vinh, Toan Thang, Huy Hoang, and Anh Quoc. We recommend taking Huy Hoang.

Around town

  1. Vung Tau is a small city ~ Though we don’t have public transport, you can download the app Grab to call a car/motorbike. Or you can ask us to call a taxi for you to drop you at a certain place. Then, you can walk around and call another Grab to take you home.
  2. Be careful with the traffic, though. There are hidden rules here and there, but generally, we go pretty slow so you will figure it out once you’re in it.
  3. When crossing the street full of motorbikes, don’t be afraid. Just be confident and the drivers would automatically dodge you.

Where to stay

If you would like to stay at the 4-star Palace Hotel, you can book via Priceline, Booking.com, Expedia, etc. The nightly rate is around $50 including breakfast.

There are a few AirBnB options but they can be a little further away from city center.

Where to go?

  1. For sunrise - go to the Back Beach (Bai Sau) at 5am. For sunset - go to the Front Beach (Bai Truoc) at 4:45pm.

  2. For a stunning view of the sunset by the beach, go to Beach Stop coffee shop. This coffee shop has a myriad of nice spots to take photos.
